If you like winter, then Juneau's winter of 2016-17 has been pretty perfect with plenty of snow followed by plenty of sunshine. Recently my wife and I enjoyed a cross-country ski adventure through miles of untouched snow in the meadows in Spaulding Meadows just above Auke Bay. Last summer, I spent one week in Denali with a professional photographer’s Denali road permit in my pocket. Usually I head directly back to the wonderful area around Wonder Lake, but on the day I arrived the park road just past Eielson Visitors Center got washed out.
