Pigeon Guillemots, Juneau, Alaska #3008

“Say What!” Two pigeon guillemots squawk at to each other on an island in the Juneau Channel Islands State Marine Park. This marine park consists of 14 islands, which are located between Auke Bay and Berners Bay here in Juneau, Alaska. Some of the islands have an amazing abundance of bird and other wildlife. Pigeon guillemots are famous for their bright red feet and for the correspondingly bright red color right inside their mouths. Thank you for visiting. Enjoy - Camera: Nikon D800, Lens: ...
Sea lions, Midway Islands – Alaska #3007

Sea lions, Midway Islands – Alaska #3007

Sea lions gathered in a group almost always make me smile. When sea lions haul out in big groups you can hear them belch, burp, grunt, and groan. They have no sense of personal space and crawl all over each other growling, barking, and snorting until they settle down in a big pig pile and dose in the warm dry air of dry land. Their faces seem to be set in a semi-permanent smile. Thank you for visiting. Enjoy - Camera: Nikon D800, Lens: Nikkor 80-400mm, Digital Capture, hand held ©Mark Kelley

Last Monday evening was just really sweet and I was glad to enjoy this beauty with my wife, Jan. Bald Eagle, Tracy Arm, Alaska #3305

Bald Eagle, Tracy Arm, Alaska #3305

Once again Tracy Arm provides.  Yesterday was my first trip down to the Arm this season. This time of the year is great for bald eagles on icebergs and there were plenty of opportunities. I traveled with Captain Steve from Adventure Bound on board the Captain Cook, with flat calm waters and sunny skies all day. Besides eagles on icebergs, I photographed black bears, sea lions, humpback whales, Sawyer Glacier and plenty of large blue icebergs. If you have a chance to go to Tracy Arm this ...
