A mom and two cub bears wander the road in Denali National Park. Wildlife viewing is great along the only road running through the park. I shot this photo from my open car window. The photo was taken on an Nikon F/5 camera body and a Nikor 300mm F/4.5 on Fuji Velvia slide film.-Mark Kelley

I photographed this scene of Mount McKinley reflecting in the Nugget Pond while visiting Camp Denali. I took the photo at about 6am in early August on a trip with my family to Denali National Park. I shot this photo with a Nikon F/5 equipped with a Nikor 80-200mmm f/2.8 zoom lens on Fuji Velvia slide film.-Mark Kelley

I started photographing this goat from a boat. It was high on the cliffs at Gloomy Knob. I was photographing the animal with a 300mm lens, when it started to scramble down towards us. By the time the goat was finished strolling down to us, I was using a 80mm lens. Wildlife encounters are wonderful and often surprising. A brown bear (Ursus Arctos) eats spring sedges along the beach at Blue Mouse Cove at Glacier Bay National Park. This bear displays the grizzly's characteristic shoulder hump, composed of muscle and fat, the round face, and long, curved claws. The brown bear's fur ranges in color from blonde, red and mocha to black. Auke Lake commands a stunning view of the mountains of the Mendenhall Glacier. A float plane is beached close to the Chapel by the Lake and the campus of the University of Alaska Southeast.
