Denali, National Park, Alaska #2996

Mar 15, 2017

Last summer, I spent one week in Denali with a professional photographer’s Denali road permit in my pocket. Usually I head directly back to the wonderful area around Wonder Lake, but on the day I arrived the park road just past Eielson Visitors Center got washed out. Heavy rains barred all traffic from travelling to the back of the Park. I was going crazy one beautiful morning wishing that I was on the other side of Eielson.  Then I shot this image of Denali which is nothing like anything I have ever seen of the mountain.  And I love it, as it is different and beautiful.  I think the image is also confusing because it shows a face of Denali we are not used to seeing. Sometimes we get lucky and make lemonade out of lemons. Enjoy the photo and thank you for visiting. Camera: Nikon D800, Lens: Nikkor 70-200mm, ISO 100, tripod, digital capture ©Mark Kelley
