Alaskan Brewing Company Ad “Our Crew, Our Brew” – Image 2300

I just love advertising. In September, the Alaskan Brewing Company asked me photograph a guysnowshoeing for their winter ad campaign. Even in Alaska, there is not much winter in September. Thesolution was to fly up to the ice fields locked into perma-winter about 5,000 above Juneau for the shoot. Camera: Nikon F5, Lens: 35-70mm f/2.8 Nikkor, Film: 35mm Fuji Provia. -Mark Kelley

Alaskan Brewing Company Ad “Our Crew, Our Brew” – Image 2299

Living in a small town of 30,000 plus people does not give me many opportunities to shoot commercialadvertising. The local brewery has used me off and on over the years. Their beer is wonderful, and theirgrowth has been astronomical. This shoot of one of their workers running by me with the Mendenhall Glacierin the background had me sitting in a glacier steam for about half an hour. I was wearing waiters and survivedjust fine. On a hunt for smooth ice, we found this little pond by the shore just pastEagle Beach. Juneau is just about to open its first indoor ice rink, but Iwill always prefer to skate outside when the weather permits. On coldclear days, I will continue to search for virgin ice.
