I just love advertising. In September, the Alaskan Brewing Company asked me photograph a guysnowshoeing for their winter ad campaign. Even in Alaska, there is not much winter in September. Thesolution was to fly up to the ice fields locked into perma-winter about 5,000 above Juneau for the shoot. Camera: Nikon F5, Lens: 35-70mm f/2.8 Nikkor, Film: 35mm Fuji Provia. -Mark Kelley

Living in a small town of 30,000 plus people does not give me many opportunities to shoot commercialadvertising. The local brewery has used me off and on over the years. Their beer is wonderful, and theirgrowth has been astronomical. This shoot of one of their workers running by me with the Mendenhall Glacierin the background had me sitting in a glacier steam for about half an hour. I was wearing waiters and survivedjust fine. Camera: Nikon F5, Lens: 20-35mm f/2.8 Nikkor (polarized), Film: ...

Outside Magazine sent me to the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in the northeast corner of Alaska to do ashoot on the caribou and a family living off the land along the Sheenjek River in the refuge. This photo is of the dad of the family of five pulling up his subsistence net collecting fish. Nikon F5, Lens: 20-35mm f/2.8(polarized), Film; 35mm Fuji 50-Mark Kelley

This photo was originally shot as a commercial shoot for TEMSCO Helicopters in Juneau. As aphotographer, I sell clients specific rights to the photos, and I then get to resell some of those photos in themarketplace. I gave this shot to my stock photo agency in Anchorage, Alaska Stock, who then turned aroundand sold it to the AAA. Camera: Nikon F5, Lens: 35-70mm f/2.8 Nikkor (polarized), Film: 35mm FujiVelvia-Mark Kelley

Helicopter tours over the Juneau Ice Field are a very popular way to visitthe frozen glacier world. Juneau's Icefield is the size of Rhode Island andseperates us from our Canadian neighbors to the east. This photo was acommercial shoot for one of the three local helicopter touring groups.Camera: Nikon F3, Lens 80-200mm F/2.8 Nikkor, Film; 35mm Fuji 50.-Mark Kelley

On a hunt for smooth ice, we found this little pond by the shore just pastEagle Beach. Juneau is just about to open its first indoor ice rink, but Iwill always prefer to skate outside when the weather permits. On coldclear days, I will continue to search for virgin ice. Camera: Nikon F5,Lens: 80-200mm F/2.8 Nikkor, Film: 35mm Fuji Velvia.-Mark Kelley
