Denali is located in the Alaska Range in Denali National Park, and is North America’s highest peak at 20,310 feet (6,190 meters). The local Athabaskan people, the Koyukon, who have inhabited the land around the mountain for centuries, named the peak, Deenaalee, meaning “The High One”. Denali’s visible vertical rise from base to summit is over 18,000 feet (5,486 meters) making it one of the highest visible rises in the world.
