Sunrise, Juneau from the Douglas Island Meadows – Image 2287

I shot this image from the meadows on Doulgas Island below Mt. Jumbo. The shot is of downtown Juneau at sunrise in late Febraury. Every Juneau Calendar needs at least one shot of downtown Juneau. The calendar is in its 14th year. Every year, I struggle finding a new and unique view of the town. After hiking to this meadow for years in the summer, it finally dawned on me that this would be a great winter shot. I waited for a fresh snow followed by a clear day…pretty rare in Juneau. I hiked up with my head lamp before sunrise and waited. The wait was worth it. Camera: F5, Lens: 20-35mm f/2.8 Nikkor, Film: 35mm Fuji Velvia-Mark Kelley
