Sunrise, Gastineau Channel, Juneau, Alaska – Image 2544

This is the best morning sunrise that I have ever witnessed in Juneau. Because Juneau is so far north, the sun rises in different parts of the skies depending on the season. During December and January, the sun rises almost directly down the Gastineau Channel and in July, the sun comes up 90 degrees to east or behind Mt. Roberts. This image illustrates the month of August in my 2008 Juneau Alaska Calendar. Camera: Nikon F/5, Lens: 80-200mm f/2.8 Nikkor, Film 35mm Velvia slide film.-Mark Kelley
