My absolute favorite place to go cross-country skiing is Spaulding Meadows in the low mountains behind Auke Bay. For this early morning January shot, I helicoptered my friends, Jeff and Karen Wilson, up to the meadows to catch the sunrise light. We spend the day shooting and skiing before taking a helicopter back down in the failing light of the early evening.
