Spaulding Meadows, Juneau, Alaska – Image 2346

Spaulding Meadows is my favorite cross-country skiing area in Juneau. The hike to the high alpine meadows is about an hour and a half long through the spruce forest. I placed my camera on a tripod at snow level to emphasize the sensuous nature of the virgin snow. On days like this, the Spaulding Meadows is my favorite spot to be in Juneau. This photo illustrates the month of February in my 2004 wall calendar. Camera: Nikon F5, Lens: 20-35mm f/2.8 Nikkor zoom polarized, Film: 35mm Fuji Velvia slide film.-Mark Kelley
