Snowshoeing, Mt. Troy, Juneau, Alaska – Image 2700

It has been dumping snow on Juneau as I write this note. I again admit I love snow and snow love is what this photo is all about. Jan, my wife, snowshoes off the top of Mt. Troy. We like going to Mt. Troy for the physical exercise of climbing a mountain in snowshoes but also because the Troy area is a sun sink. In Alaska, the sun is low in the sky and many places do not get sun all day. With the winter light being short, we hunt out places that get plenty of winter sun. Mt. Troy gets the sun all winter long and all day long. We go there often. I will be leading a small boat photo cruise in Glacier Bay National Park next year with Dolphin Charters (www.dolphincharters.com), July 6-12, 2011. Come join me for a week-long cruise in the bay exploring Alaska. This photo illustrates the month of March in my Southeast Alaska 2011 calendar. Enjoy the photo and thanks for visiting.
