Ski Flight, Eaglecrest Ski Area, Alaska – Image 2822

Today (4-10), I sit writing this caption while watching it snow outside my office window. We have almost no snow sticking at sea level, but there is plenty of snow in the mountains with Eaglecrest Ski Area having excellent coverage with an all-natural snow base of 153 inches at the top. Sunday, the 14th, is the last day of operations at the ski area which is always a very sad day. The second season begins on the 15th when we start hiking for runs. The snow is usually good in the mountains until early May. This is my son, Owen, in full flight in the middle of a forest of rime-coated (iced up) spruce trees. Both my sons, Gabe and Owen, are excellent skiers which makes photos like this one possible. The take home lesson for photographers is find the best talent possible. Additionally, I will be the photo leader on a week-long trip (August 30-September 6, 2013) through Southeast Alaska on board the 50-foot custom trawler “Delphinus” captained by my good friend, Ronn Patterson. The trip starts in Wrangell and ends up in Ketchikan. The trip will visit Anan Creek and travel through Misty Fjords. For more information contact Ronn at trips@dolphincharters.com or check out their website at www.dolphincharters.com. Thank you for visiting.
