Sitka, Alaska – Image 2629

Oct 1, 2013 | 0 comments

Sitka, Alaska sits on the outside coast of Southeast Alaska facing the Pacific Ocean. Often the Pacific Ocean sea fog from the Gulf of Alaska blankets the town. The airport was closed, my flight canceled, and I was looking for a location to shoot. Sitka is blessed with a road to the top of a mountain, Harbor Mountain. I drove up the mountain and out of the fog. Off in the distance, I noticed the Fairweather Range peaks sticking above the fog with Glacier Bay National Park shrouded below. I shot the image … one day delayed, but one portfolio-image richer. This image illustrates the month of August in my 2010 Southeast Alaska Calendar. Enjoy the photo and thanks for visiting.Nikon F4, Fuji Velvia 35mm film-Mark Kelley
