Sawmill Creek, Berners Bay, Alaska – Image 2582

The Sawmill Creek waterfall is a fairy-tale, childhood dream-like place. My friend, David Job, poses by the falls to give the viewer the sense of size of the scene. This image illustrates the month of May in my 2009 Juneau Alaska Calendar. I shot this image with a slow (long) shutter speed to let the falling water turn into a mist creating more of the dream-like state. The 2009 Juneau’s Calendar is my 20th anniversary issue and features a look back over the years of photos showcasing some of my favorites from the past 20 years. This photo first appeared in the Juneau Calendar in April 1993. Nikon F2, Lens: 20-35mm f/2.8 Nikkor, Fuji slide film-Mark Kelley
