The best and most accessible place to see wild sandhill cranes is Creamer’s Field Refuge, Fairbanks, Alaska in August. The cranes start migrating south in August, and Creamer’s Field Refuge is one of their favorite stopping-off spots. At the height of the migration there are hundreds of cranes inter-mixed with geese and other migratory waterfowl at the refuge. This photo is available as a print (print number P 140).
