Ptarmigan Chairlift, Eaglecrest Ski Area, Douglas Island, Mt. Ben Stewart, Juneau – Image 2697

Juneau finally got its first snowfall of the season on Tuesday. According to the weather service, the usual date for the first snowfall is historically November 6. We are a wee bit late this year. Of course, I love snow and am always looking forward to dumps and dumps of the white stuff. This photo is taken from the same position that I took number 2695 that was posted on 11-10. I just moved back about 100 yards and framed the photo through the spruce trees. I liked both photos and could not decide which one to use. Since I publish two calendars per year, and I am in control of the images that appear, I decided to use one in each of the different calendars. I will be at the Public Market at Centennial Hall this weekend (Friday through Saturday). Come and let me know which one you like better and why. I will be leading a small boat photo cruise in Glacier Bay National Park next year with Dolphin Charters (www.dolphincharters.com), July 6-12, 2011. Come join me for a week-long cruise in the bay exploring Alaska. This photo illustrates the month of February in my Southeast Alaska 2011 calendar. Enjoy the photo and thanks for visiting.
