Mt. Goat, Tracy Arm-Fords Terror, Alaska – Image 2621

I photographed this mountain goat billy in late May from a boat in Tracy Arm. May and early June are a person’s best chance of seeing mountain goats near tide line. The mountain-top snows have not totally disappeared so the goats stay at the lower elevations waiting for the snow to recede. Later in the season the mountain goats live at the tops of the mountains and at best are only white specks even with large telephoto lens. This photo illustrates the month of April in my 2010 Southeast Alaska Calendar. Enjoy the photo and thanks for visiting.
