Lynn Canal, Juneau, Alaska – Image 2849

Oct 1, 2013 | 0 comments

I shot the full moon setting over the Chilkat Mountains from around 33-miles out the road on the Juneau road system. The wind was blowing so hard down Lynn Canal, there was wind smoke on top of the white capped waves. The trick in photographing a full moon is to not use too long of an exposure. The photographer has to balance the ISO, the shutter speed, and aperture to allow for enough exposure of the overall scene while freezing the moon’s motion. The image illustrates the month of September in my Juneau 2014 Calendar. Thank you for visiting. Camera body:D700, Lens:Nikkor 70-200mm, ISO 800 , Digital Capture© Mark Kelley
