Long-tailed Jaeger, Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska – Image 2499

During the summer, long-tailed jaegers are usually only associated with tundra nesting areas of the northern arctic areas of Alaska and Canada. Although rare, this bird was nesting in Glacier Bay National Park in the Dry Bay area. I found a number of jaegers in this area but found them no where else in Glacier Bay. This image illustrates the page 76 in my book on Glacier Bay National Park. Camera: Nikon F/5, Lens: 500mm f/4 Nikkor lens, Film 35mm Velvia slide film.-Mark Kelley
