Southeast Alaska is not known for great fall colors. It mostly rains, more like pours September thru October. Every once in a while, we might get an exceptional years and get treated to some good colors. But, if a southeastern just scoots over the border into Canada through Haines or Skagway you are guaranteed some great fall colors. This photo was taken just over the pass on the Klondike Highway heading out of Skagway about 35 miles. The best time of the year to get the maximum color blast is in the first to third week of September depending on the year. Early October would be to late. The image illustrates the month of November in my 2012 Southeast Alaska Calendar. Enjoy the photo and thanks for visiting.
