Immature Bald Eagle, Juneau, Alaska – Image 2261

With wings akimbo, an immature bald eagle shifts gears from flight to a dive for a herring on the water’s surface. The distinctive white head and tail feathers are not attained until five or more years of age. This photo illustrates the month of June in my 2003 Juneau Calendar.
