Ice Climbing, Mendenhall Glaicer, Alaska – Image 2647

Ice climbing the front of a glacier is very dangerous. I was out walking around on the frozen lake when I saw a group of climbers top roping the glacier and started climbing. I backed way off using my 80-200mm. I was captivated by the small ant-like climber against the incredible blue ice wall with the massive mountains in the background. The image pops in the beautiful afternoon light and shouts adventure in Alaska. This photo illustrates the month of March in my Southeast Alaska 2010 calendar. Enjoy the photo and thanks for visiting.Camera body: Nikon F5, Lens: Nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8, polarized, Velvia 35mm slide film, ASA 50-Mark Kelley
