Heintzleman Ridge, Mendenhall Glacier Juneau, Alaska – Image 2656

Heintzleman ridge is my favorite overlook of the Mendenhall Glacier. The hike up the trail takes two plus hours and climbs over 2,500 feet. I shot this photo in October and what looks like a lake in the bottom of the photo is really a large pond. I cropped the image in camera to make this relatively small pond look larger than it really is. This pond comes and goes depending on the rainfall. A beautiful vista is made all that more spectacular with the additional element of the pond, and I am always a little disappointed when I make the tough hike up the trail and find the pond empty. Enjoy the image and thanks for visiting. Camera body: Nikon F3, Lens: Nikkor 80-200mm f2.8, 35mm Fuji Velvia slide film, polarized, digitally scanned-Mark Kelley
