Haines, Alaska – Image 2689

Oct 1, 2013 | 0 comments

Of all the Alaska towns that I have visited, which is a lot, I think Haines has the most scenic setting. I shot this photo during the morning’s first light in August. Luckily, the morning light coincided with the low tide, and I was able to get the mirror reflection of town in the small ponds left by the receding tide. I had pre-visualized this scenic with a mirror reflection, and this image would not have been as successful without the reflection. Upon arriving, I realized the large body of water between my subject and myself was not going to be mirror calm. I was disappointed that I could not carry out my vision, but after lots of quick scrambling I realized the small tidal pools worked great. This photo illustrates the month of November in my Southeast Alaska 2011 calendar. Enjoy the photo and thanks for visiting.
