Grotto Island is on the outer edge of the Kenai Fjords National Park in Alaska. This island is a bird rookery and sealion haul-out. I was on an assignment for a book on Alaska and was exploring Kenai Fjords National Park on a commercial day-boat tour out of Seward, Alaska. I had never been in the area before and came upon this amazing rock island. I was unprepared for what I was seeing and let the motor drive fly. Only one frame worked where I could see the sea lions on the flat rock as well as in the island grotto. I wanted another spin to make the photo better but the captain said we were already late on the schedule and had to keep moving. I have been trying to get back to this island/rock ever since.Nikon F4, Lens: 20-35mm f/2.8 Nikkor, setting unknown, polarized, Fuji Velvia slide film-Mark Kelley
