Calving Lamplugh Glacier, Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska – Image 2007

I had been at Lamplugh Glacier all day and had missed a number of good calving photos because of bad luck and poor timing. Finally as evening light approached, I decided to stop all activity and wait for the calve. About an hour into my wait, the best calve of the day happened and I got it on film. I shot this photo with a Nikon F5 camera body with a 35 to 75mm F/2.8 Nikor lens on Velvia film.-Mark Kelley
