Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah – Image 2775

Oct 1, 2013 | 0 comments

Last fall, my wife and I visited seven national parks in and around southern Utah in three weeks. We enjoyed all of them, and this photo was taken at sunrise from the rim above the hoodoo filled canyon. The lone woman sitting on top of the rock just happened into this scene right at sunrise. Sometimes there is a God in heaven. Anyways, I entered this photo in the annual Alaska Airlines Magazine photo contest. It was one of the ten finalists published in the May 2012 issue. There were 1,200 images entered. Only three images received the top prizes of plane tickets. Two years ago I finished in the top ten, but again out of running for tickets. The rules of this contest state the photos have to have been shot in the last calendar year, in an area serviced by Alaska Airline and cannot be slated for publication during the contest period. By the time this contest rolls around, most of my best photos from the last year are already committed to my newest calendars and updated books. So I have to find gems in photos from my travels outside Alaska. It is always fun to get my image chosen in the photo contest. So if you are traveling on Alaska Airlines this month check out the magazine and enjoy the photo. Thanks for visiting.
