Black Oystercatcher, Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska – Image 2500

A black oystercatcher sits on its nest just above high tide on a Tidal Inlet beach. If you can find a nest, these bird will come very close to defend their nest. Usually working in pairs, these birds are really good at leading you away from their nest with false nesting behaviors and broken wing routines.
