Black-legged Kittiwakes, Nest Colony, Alaska – Image 2517

Black-legged kittiwakes nest in Glacier Bay near the faces of glaciers. The birds feed at the glacier face. Glacier calving causes nutrient rich upwelling at the glacier front providing meals for thousands of birds.
