Black-legged Kittiwakes, Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska – Image 2571

Black-legged kittiwakes by the thousands nest on the steep cliffs next to glaciers throughout the park. I shot this photo from my kayak. I find it very difficult to shoot from a kayak while paddling by myself. When I am paddling, I usually need to shoot and visa-versa when I am shooting I usually need to be paddling to maintain my position. I always try to shoot from a kayak with an assistant in the rear seat which frees me up to shoot and not to worry about paddling.
