This image is the last installment on my Anan Creek bear photos. Here, a black bear grabs a pink salmon out of Anan Creek, spins up around and heads up out of the creek into the forest to eats its meal. After catching their salmon creekside, many bears head deep into the forest to eat their meal. Dragging their salmon catch into the forest is a big help to the health of the old growth forest. The salmon caresses left by the bears fertilize the forest helping maintain the incredible forest that surrounds Anan Wildlife Observatory. Some refer to this process as “salmon in the trees”. This photo was shot out of the photo blind at the Anan Wildlife Observatory. Enjoy the photo and thanks for visiting. Camera body: D300, Lens: Nikkor 70-200mm F/4, ISO 800© Mark Kelley
