Surfing in Winter, Juneau, Alaska – Image 2991

Feb 6, 2017

I apologize for not posting any new images for the past month.  We have been enjoying a long and well-deserved break. This past week has been gorgeous in Juneau and there were plenty of sunny days along with some big winds. Although Juneau is not a hot spot for surfing there is a dedicated cadre of surfs who surf Lena Beach when the Taku winds are blowing.  While the waves were not large, the mountains in the Chilkat Range in the background more than make up for it.  For pure scenic value, Hawaii has nothing on Alaska.
