Sunset, Eagle Beach, Alaska #3035

Nov 8, 2017

This photo shoot of the sunset over the snowcapped Chilkat Mountain was turning out pretty well, but I felt something was amiss; the upper sky was looking rather blank. Within minutes after contemplating my problem Canada geese flew into the blankness and solved my dilemma. After just five seconds the birds flew out of my picture frame and the sky returned to blankness. From a photographer’s perspective it was critical to get the geese to separate from each other for a perfect shot and so they did. I was so thrilled with the image I made it the cover of my 2018 Juneau, Alaska calendar and it is featured during the month of November in the calendar. I will be at the Juneau Public Market from November 23-25 to sign and personalize your Mark Kelley calendars. Please come by and say hello.
