Stikine River, Wrangell – Image #3054

May 3, 2018

Snow geese, too many to count, lift off the tidal flats of the Stikine River Delta. Every spring these tidal flats provide feeding and resting grounds for thousands of migrating birds. This spring phenomenon is just a short boat ride from the Southeast Alaska town, Wrangell. To celebrate the event Wrangell hosts the Stikine River Birding Festival and I was honored to be this year’s opening speaker Friday, April 27th. After a classroom presentation the next day I was able to spend two days on the Stikine River with my wife, Jan, and our good friends Brenda and John from Alaska Charters and Adventure
