Snowboarding, Eaglecrest Ski Area, Juneau, Alaska…Image # 2903

I photographed this snowboarder, Sam Buck, during the same shoot with my son (the image in the month of January in the Juneau Calendar). Sam’s colors really worked against the winter white background. For the last two years, I have been shooting with the Nikon D800 camera body. This camera delivers a 36 megapixel image, the largest of any DSRL camera. The detail and clarity of the camera amazes me. Check out the detail in the zipper pull, the snap hanging from his glove, and the cord hanging from his parka hood. The 35mm color slides could not have given me such detail. This photo illustrates the month of December in my 2015 Southeast Alaska Calendar.
