Snow Moon, Juneau, Alaska #3364

Nov 29, 2024

I never know when a good photo will present itself. This image is the perfect example. It was 6 a.m. and I was still in my pajamas, walking across my living room when I saw this amazing full moon setting through the windows. I knew I did not have much time before the moon would disappear behind the Chilkat Mountains. Luckily, my camera was close to the door. I grabbed it, walked out on to our snow-covered deck and stood barefoot in three inches of new snow photographing this beautiful scene. It was all over in about ten minutes. If I had slept just ten minutes longer I would have completely missed this moment. The fates were with me. This image is featured in the 2025 Juneau Alaska Calendar, now available at markkelley.com and in your Juneau stores. I will be at the Public Market signing calendars today through Sunday. Thank you for visiting and for the gift of your time, enjoy!  Camera Nikon D850, Lens 80-400mm, Digital Capture, ©Mark Kelley
