Semipalmated plover, Reid Glacier, Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska – Image #2923

Aug 6, 2015

I spent seven days onboard Ronn Patterson’s M/V Delphinus as photo leader for Dolphin Charters with eight other photographers. We had an amazing trip. This is my last week of sharing some of the wonderful images I was able to shoot.  I have been photographing Glacier Bay National Park for over 35. I love spending time with the shore birds we find when we get off the boat for daily shore excursion. Lying flat on my stomach I photographed this semipalmated plover with my Nikon 80-400mm in DX mode which gave me the equivalent of a 600mm lens. When you get uptight and personal with these little guys you realize just how beautiful and colorful they are. I will be leading the exact same trip next year to Glacier Bay National Park with Dolphin Tours on July 13-19, 2016. Come and explore the bay with me and the crew on the M/V Delphinus. Thanks for visiting. Camera: Nikon D800,  Lens: 80-400mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom,  Digital capture, ISO 800 – Copyright Mark Kelley 2015
