I grew up as a working newspaper photojournalist for the first 14 years ofmy professional life and love taking photos of people. But, my passions arewildlife and wilderness. Right now there is more demand for mywilderness/wildlife photos than for my people images. But when I get a goodportrait I am going to feature it. This is Sasha and she lives in themiddle of “nowhere” Oregon. She been a family friend forever, and wevisited her with her parents, Scott and Paula, in October 2010. At 23 she isbuying a ranch. She works a day job to pay the bills and comes home in theevening to do her ranch chores and take care of her three horses, five dogs, three cows and many cats. I took this photo of her while she was introducingus to one of her horses. Once again as a reminder, I will be leading a smallboat photo cruise in Glacier Bay National Park next year with DolphinCharters (www.dolphincharters.com), July 6-12, 2011. Come join me for aweek-long cruise in the bay exploring Alaska. Enjoy the photo and thanks forvisiting. Camera body: Nikon D700, Lens: Nikkor 70-200, ISO 200© Mark Kelley
