Paddle Board, Lena Beach, Juneau, Alaska – Image 2739

Oct 1, 2013

I was watching the late afternoon cloud pattern and thought it might make for a good sunset. I called my friends, Steve and Jan, and asked if I could cut down through their property and wait on the beach to see if anything would come of the evening light. Waiting about half an hour, the sunset started to rev up, and my friends thought I was clairvoyant. They don’t just how many times I set up for a lovely sunset and went home with nothing. Just as the sunset started to peak, I noticed this movement off to my far left. I could not believe, but here is a paddle boarder paddling through my scene at the perfect moment. I could not have planned this photo and had the timing so perfect. This was the first time I ever saw a paddle board in Juneau. Later I found out that the paddle boarder was a captain for a state ferry system and commuted to work by paddle board on the good days. After seeing the whole scene unfold, my friends were totally impressed with my clairvoyent gifts…I call it getting lucky. The old adage applies, the harder I work the luckier I get. The image illustrates the month of October in my 2012 Juneau Alaska Calendar. Enjoy the photo and thanks for visiting.
