Nugget Falls, Mendenhall Glacier, Juneau, Alaska – Image 2783

Oct 1, 2013

This is another lucky, found moment. I usually go out to photograph with an image in my mind. This day, I wanted to get a photo showing Nugget Falls and people interacting with the environment. I thought I would get a bunch of people standing around enjoying the amazing seen. I worked the situation as best I could and made some pleasant photos. I had been there about an hour trying to make an image, but nothing more than the standard stuff was happening. Than an angel showed up. Without any prompting, a young man stripped down to his jeans and started running in front of the waterfall with glacier in the background. I knew the moment I had been waiting for was there. I got his name, but lost it on the little piece of paper I was carrying. He was from somewhere down south and was in Juneau doing church mission work. He was seeing the glacier and the waterfall for the first time. The spirit got him. He made my day and an image in my 2013 Juneau Alaska Calendar illustrating the month of August. Enjoy and the photo and thanks for visiting. Camera body: D700, Lens: Nikkor 16-35mm f/4 /digital capture/ISO 200© Mark Kelley
