Mountain Goat, Glacier Bay National Park, AK #3424

Nov 16, 2021

My favorite place to photograph mountain goats is Gloomy Knob in Glacier Bay National Park. The goats hang out here because this massive, incredibility steep ridge rises over 1,000 feet above of the ocean and is inhospitable to predators. In the spring and early summer the goats raise their kids here, out of harm’s way. This adult goat is shedding its winter coat. The image illustrates the month of April in my 2022 Alaska Calendar. Thank you for visiting and for the gift of your time. Enjoy.
