Mendenhall Glacier, Juneau, AK #3370

Dec 13, 2024

I love, and never tire of photographing, the Mendenhall Glacier. Some dismay over our shrinking glacier and I understand the sentiment. But, I still marvel at having a glacier just a fifteen-minute drive from my home. For this photo I stood on an eight-foot ladder to get above the bushes along the front of the pond and to get a clear view of the glacier face above the trees along the back edge of the pond. This image is featured in the 2025 Juneau Alaska Calendar, now available at markkelley.com and in your Juneau stores.
