Mendenhall Glacier in Winter , Juneau, Alaska #3351

Nov 9, 2023

As seen from the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center, the glacier face can seem small and insignificant. But when Mendenhall Lake freezes, I love the two-mile walk from the visitor center to the front of the glacier. Once I get up close and personal the glacier face is huge. I am reminded just how grand the glacier truly is and how lucky we are to have this 13-mile-long glacier in our backyard. I shot this image in December 2022. This image illustrates the month of February in the 2024 Juneau, Alaska Calendar . Purchase your favorite Mark Kelley calendar in Juneau stores or at markkelley.com.
