Lituya Bay, on the western edge of Glacier Bay National Park, is the site of dramatic and deadly earthquakes and landslides. In 1958, an earthquake set off in turn a landslide, a splash that climbed 1,720, the crumbling of the face of Lituya Glacier, and a massive wave that carried three fishing boats out of the bay, killing two people.
