Ice Cave, Mendenhall Glacier, Alaska #3004

May 9, 2017

Come to the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center on Wednesday, May 10, from 6-8pm, and celebrate the release of my new book “Alaska’s Mendenhall Glacier.” I will give a twenty minute presentation at 6:15PM to talk about some of my more favorite images in the book including this image I call “Iced Over” Everyone is invited! In 2010 my son, Gabe, was guiding for Above and Beyond Alaska when he started telling me about this amazing ice cave he was guiding his clients to. Of course, he took me under the ice and I shot this photo of him peering into the ice cave that fall. Since 2010 I have made many journeys to the ice caves. This photo ended up being used in a Patagonia catalog.  I credit Above and Beyond Alaska owners and operators, Becky and Sean Janes for spreading the word about the phenomenal and other worldly experience of being under the ice.
