Humpback Whales, Southeast Alaska #3407

Aug 4, 2021

A bunch of humpback whales swim right past our boat after completing a bubble-net feeding event. We counted twelve individuals in this group. I, along with Ralph Lee Hopkins, Lindblad Expeditions Director of Photography, and Flip Nicklin, National Geographic Photographer and Whale Trust co-founder volunteered for two four-day photo safaris out of Juneau as fundraisers for Whale Trust Maui. The Whale Trust Maui is a nonprofit organization dedicated to scientific research and public awareness of whales and their environment. This is one of my favorite images of those eight days.
