Humpback Whales, Inside Passage, Alaska #3016

Jul 19, 2017

One can never take Juneau’s world class whale watching scene for granted. I just spent four days on the water with good friends hoping for some great whale photography. While the local humpbacks were pretty active the week before our shoot, they were hard to find these last four days. It was not until the last day that we happen upon this humpback whale pod and the long wait made up for it. The whales were pretty active and while they engaged in bubble net feeding we could hear their whale song above the water. I am not sure what is more exciting, photographing or just watching and listening to these great animals of the sea. A special thanks goes out to Jayleen Beedle, whale boat captain for Jayleen’s Alaska. Thank you for visiting. Enjoy – Camera: Nikon D500, Lens: Nikkor 80-400mm, Digital Capture, hand held
