A large adult humpback whale breaches in Icy Strait with the Bear Track Mountains in Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska, as a backdrop. I, along with Ralph Lee Hopkins, Lindblad Expeditions Director of Photography, and Flip Nicklin, National Geographic Photographer and Whale Trust co-founder volunteered for two four-day photo safaris out of Juneau as fundraisers for Whale Trust Maui. The Whale Trust Maui is a nonprofit organization dedicated to scientific research and public awareness of whales and their environment. This is one of my favorite images of those eight days.
