A humpback whale breaches out of the water along the Admiralty Island shore. I shot this photo last week while conducting a whale photography workshop with fellow photographer Ralph Lee Hopkins. We hosted eleven photographers for a four-day event to raise funds for the non-profit Whale Trust Maui, whose mission is dedicated to the scientific research and public awareness of whales and their environment. My friend Flip Nicklin, a founder of the Whale Trust, joined the group for two days of shooting.
