Harbor Seals, Tracy Arm, Alaska #3026

Sep 20, 2017

What great luck! A mother harbor seal and her pup cast a perfect reflection in the blue-green glacier waters of Tracy Arm. I have photographed seals with pups on the floating ice of Glacier Bay and Tracy Arm for over forty years and this is the first and only time I have been able to get both with a mirror perfect reflection. What makes this photo even stronger is that the pup appears wrapped within its mother’s body. This photo illustrates the month of June in my 2018 Juneau Calendar and I also decided to turn it into a note card. Enjoy the photo and thanks for visiting – Camera: Nikon D800, Lens: Nikkor 80-400mm, Digital Capture, hand held ©Mark Kelley
